Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates clinical training, orientation and ongoing evaluation of new/existing clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and annually.

  • In collaboration with the unit coordinator, coordinates clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support.

  • The RN provides clinical leadership while overseeing the scope of practice of LPN’s and Medical Assistants in the office.

  • Triages and assesses patients for early identification of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely intervention.

  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.

  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.

  • Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and oversees proficiency validations according to regulatory standards. Includes oversight of tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing.

  • Collaborates and leads patients, families, and all members of the health care team in coordinating patient care.

  • In collaboration with the Unit Coordinator, participates in and facilitates Performance Improvement activities, monitors PI data and assists with the development of Performance Improvement plans.

  • Collaborates with Unit Coordinator to promote and facilitate the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.

  • Participates in educational opportunities and in collaboration with the unit coordinator, assists in providing information updates and acts as a resource for all clinical staff.

  • Ability to perform Non Stress Testing on OB patients.

  • Ability to assist with in office procedures.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.

  • At least 1 year experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.

  • Current NY State RN license.

  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a walk in / primary care/ specialty care setting.

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Current driver’s license

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office environment that requires working in proximity to other employees and patients.
  • The office is air conditioned as well as heated.
  • Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
  • Fast-paced environment including frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing and bending.
  • Possibility of lifting of patients.
  • Mobility may include access through a multi-level facility, including climbing stairs.
  • PPE- Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, Gloves per UHS Infection Control and CDC guidelines when appropriate.

  • Clinical – Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) – Level 3
